ABOUT US
We are dedicated to telling your story, keeping you informed, keeping you entertained. We want to raise awareness and the donation rate.
We are a website that is designed to let you tell your Kidney Story. We think that sharing Kidney Stories is the best way to help someone find their match, to inform the public of the necessity of organ/kidney donation, and to proactively allow other a view of what it's like to suffer from kidney disease, be on dialysis, wait on a transplant list, receive a transplant and what life is like after transplantation. We share news here about scientific/medical development and literature in the field of transplants. We want to help people who have a specific disease (PKD, CKD, ESRD), we want to be proactive in advising about political/legal issue that affect the kidney community, we want to assist with events, fundraising, people looking for a kidney, people looking for a renal-related job, people looking for a life coach, people that have questions about renal diet, people on vacations with renal issues, speakers who can talk at your event, advocacy and organizations that are there to help.
Our philosophy is that if we help one, we help all. There are approximately 100,000 people waiting for a kidney and last year there were approximately 16,000 transplants. 16% is not good enough. 12 people die everyday waiting for a transplant. We believe that EVERYONE should get their kidney. We want to discuss the ins and outs of transplants. We want you to know that issues with kidneys do not necessarily end with transplants, but transplants have their own subset of issues that need to be addressed. We will put a special emphasis on success stories and life after transplant.
Part of the problem with kidney disease is that it can be so isolating; that feeling of loneliness, I want my life back, and being endlessly tethered to some machine all contributes to this feeling of isolation. We want you to know that you are not alone; you have people going through the same thing as you who are willing to help and share. Their are organizations out there that want to help and inform. We want to bring you into the community, make you feel at home, share our hope with you. Welcome!
